About

The SHRS-DC provides state of the art data management and analysis services to the Schools of Health Sciences, particularly studies involving investigators from the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The SHRS-DC is comprised of two primary units: Data Management and Biostatistics.

Data Management

The data management unit is responsible for designing data flow, data elements, data entry and verification procedures based on study protocols. Our team includes a systems analyst and data managers who have expertise in building electronic data capture systems and using reporting tools such as SQL and Tableau. The data management team also designs and implements data quality monitoring, queries, and reports for studies with primary data collection. For randomized controlled trials, the data management unit works with the biostatistics unit to create Steering Committee and Data Safety and Monitoring Board reports, clinicaltrials.gov reports, and data-sharing obligations.

Biostatistics

The biostatistical unit supports all phases of research, including grant development, study design, sample size estimation, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation. Our team includes Doctoral-level faculty and Master’s-level biostatisticians with expertise in pragmatic trial design (multisite randomized clinical trials, cluster randomized trials, stepped-wedge designs, observational studies, health services research, and psychometrics), longitudinal data analyses, multilevel modeling, repeated-events or time-to-event modeling, structural equation modeling, dyadic analyses, multivariate analyses, and programming using SAS, R, and more. The biostatistical unit provides mentorship for junior investigators, post-doctoral scholars, and doctoral students.
